Dishwasher Thermal Disinfection Indicator Labels: TDI

Thermal Disinfection Indicators or TDI Labels are used to demonstrate that sterilisation temperatures have been achieved within a commercial dishwasher or washing machine.

The adhesive label is water and steam resistant when applied to a clean, dry surface.

The T.D.I. will indicate temperature by a permanent colour change to show that the surface temperature of the item has been high enough for true thermal disinfection.  These labels are HACCP approved and accurate to within ±1°C.  Remove the labels when warm and attached to a log book for record keeping.

A lack of a result indicates that the item has not reached the required temperature for proper thermal disinfection.  Even though dishwasher sensors may indicate the water temperature is high enough; water cools quickly as it leaves the jets and is dissipated throughout the washer. If the surface temperature has not reached the right temperature, then that surface is not likely to have achieved thermal disinfection.

Three different temperature points are indicated; 65°C, 71°C and 82°C.  

The temperature point of interest depends on the length of the cycle.  If a cycle is short, then the 82°C temperature must be reached.  This goes to say that with a long cycle the 65°C temperature point will suffice.

TDI's are used by the catering suppliers of airlines, major and minor food production companies, hotels, hospitals, linen services, local restaurants and cooked / raw food suppliers such as a butchers and fresh seafood shops.

The TDI can also be used in medical applications including laundry services. Simply place a TDI inside a small snap-lock bag and throw it in the wash cycle - easy!

The labels are non-toxic, water resistant and accurate to ±1°C
