More info

The DD-100 mechanical dial Durometer is pocket-sized with a large, clear dial and bezel. The DD-100 are designed for users who need to measure the Shore hardness of resins, rubbers and plastics.

Durometers are commonly used to ensure consistency of a product in quality control and also so that it meets required specifications in production or when checking parts received from suppliers.  Items tested include, tyres, shoe soles, cheeses, plastic chairs, skateboard wheels, Perspex etc.

A durometer works by measuring the resistance to an indentation. That indentation is made with a specific size & shape indenter and spring load force, based on the applicable Shore scale.  Our DD-100 range is available in Shore A or Shore D scales.

For soft to medium hard plastics and rubber elastomers, Shore A is used.

Shore D is used on harder plastics.

Usage is simple; just press the durometer against the test sample and the needle will show the hardness value. The max. result is retained by the secondary "lazy arm" peak pointer for recording purposes. Reset the lazy arm to repeat testing.  Best practice is to obtain average hardness from at least 5 measurements on each sample.
