The Brix (sugar level) can now be measured by placing the fruit on the sample stage with no need for cutting or squeezing; even outside in the field and without the need to remove the fruit - so no more loss of product for sampling. And it no longer requires time-consuming wiping and cleansing after each measurement.

The PAL-HIKARi uses an integrated LED light source to refract light into and through the fruit under test, diffused it back into the usual sensor for fast, accurate and truly non-destructive measurement. You can measure Brix simply by placing the sensor against the fruit’s surface and since measuring does not damage fruit, when done, it can be packed and shipped. The cushion around the sensor provides gentle but firm contact to the fruit’s surface. Regardless of the shape, it prevents external light from interfering and causing measurement discrepancies.
