The TIME5100 (TH-170) series is a tried and true, portable LEEB type hardness testers. They are able to provide the results in applications where bench mount hardness testers can't be used.  Powered by AA batteries, which is much more convenient than rechargeable battery units, the TH-170 also has onboard memory which can be accessed with your computer, using optional Windows software and the included data cable.

Using rebound technology the hardness results are measured in the  LEEB Scale or "HL".  These results are converted to the standard scales of Rockwell B, Rockwell C, Vickers, Brinell, & MpA  depending on the material and indenter used.  The TH-170 is versatile, portable and accurate and has the ability to test on various metals including steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and other variations.

TH-170 (Standard)

The TH-170  is used for general purpose testing of samples greater than 5mm thickness.  The results can be automatically converted from leeb and displayed as Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell and Shore hardness values.  These values can then be used for wear and tear analysis and quality control.

TH-172 (Thin material)

If you need to test thinner or lighter samples then you may wish to consider the TH-172.  Integrated with a C-type impact device, the impact force is lighter which allows for testing thinner samples from 1mm coupled.  If the samples are not coupled to be stable, the result will be effected by vibration created by the impact of the indenter and provide an incorrect hardness reading. The results are measured in HLC rather than HLD.

TH-174 (Needle Point for hard to reach Testing)

For difficult to access locations we recommend the TH-174.  It comes with a needle point indenter which is perfect for deep crevices, and testing odd surfaces such as o-ring grooves, teeth on gears, or any notched/stepped parts.
