Portable Hardness Tester: HTX-02

The Starr Instruments HTX-02 is smart and portable metal hardness tester.

This Pen-Type LEEB hardness tester is ultra compact and has been designed with ultimate portability in mind. Despite its small size, this nifty instrument retains all of the important functions and features.

The hardness value is obtained using the LEEB method which measures the energy loss of a specified impact body after impacting on a test surface. These results can then be directly converted to common hardness scales such as HRC, HRB, HRA, HB, HV and even HS (sclerometer - Shore D). 

The HTX-02 uses a D-type impact device which is suitable for general purpose testing of Steel and cast steel, alloy tool steel, stainless steel, gray cast iron, nodular cast iron and cast aluminium alloy. The D-type impact device requires the tested material to have a thickness greater than 5mm. (It may be possible to test smaller/thinner parts if "coupled" or suitably supported).
