The Starr DSD series is a digital Durometer used to test the Shore hardness (or Duro) of most types of rubber and elastomers, soft plastics and some composite materials. 

They are simple to operate and the compact, lightweight casing fits perfectly in your hand for fast, accurate testing.  

A durometer works by measuring the resistance to an indentation that is made with a specific load pressure and indenter according to test standards such as ASTM D 2240.  

An essential tool for quality assurance, a durometer is used to measure consistency in a product and that it meets internal specification requirements.

Common applications are for quality control purposes and include testing the hardness of car tyres, shoe soles, confectionery, rubber bushes, gaskets, o-rings and cheeses to name a few. 

The unit can be used with one hand operation and shows live statistics on its screen. Including the current hardness result, test number, average values and standard deviation.
